Plein air oil paintings and studies from awarded research grant focused on materiality, color, and movement. Inspiration came not only from the surrounding environment but also the techniques of historic local artists who shaped the regional art of the Adirondack Mountains. Artists studied included Harold Weston, Paul Matthews, and Rockwell Kent.
